Pneumatic Tube Systems

Substantially increase efficiency throughout your entire hospital with the TranspoNet Pneumatic Tube System. This PC-controlled pneumatic tube system was designed to meet hospitals’ need for spontaneous transport of lab, blood and tissue samples, as well as documents and rapid sections. By using the PC-controlled air tube system, staff can focus on patient care instead of wasting valuable time moving materials among floors and departments.
The highly flexible system can be installed during construction or retrofitted into existing buildings to meet your specific transport processes. Whether you need to move highly sensitive items among floors or between buildings, the TranspoNet System is adaptable to every architectural challenge.

The pneumatic tube system can be customized to facilitate automatic empty carrier return, allow for multicarrier transport and deliver real-time notifications. Intelligent software optimizes operation 24×7, guaranteeing fast and safe material transport every time – even over long distances.

TranspoNetTM Carriers

TranspoNet Carriers safely and reliably transport lab specimens, blood products, pharmaceuticals, documents, supplies, and other materials throughout the hospital’s TranspoNet Pneumatic Tube System (PTS). Solid and durable, these easy-open carriers guarantee secure and gentle transport.

Three different carrier models are available with several options. Each carrier is designed for automated transport and different models can be used in combination in one PTS. TranspoNet Carriers feature Velcro®bands for durability and transport stability within the tube system.

  • SmartOpen – Developed for use with automated loading and unloading devices, it is the ideal solution for high-volume hospital laboratories and central pharmacies; available in 160 mm size
  • SafeSeal – Leak-resistant carriers prevent accidental spills and the potential spread of pathogens when transporting biohazard or carcinogenic substances; available in 160 mm size
  • Standard – Robust carrier offering a long product life cycle and low replacement costs; available in 110 mm, 160 mm, and custom sizes.

Optional features are available for customized solutions:

  • RFID tag – Enables full traceability of carriers and origination/destination stations
  • Loading dimensions – Carrier length can be customized on request, according to transport requirements and the configuration of the tube system
  • Color caps – Support easy identification for department-specific uses

PowerLine Technology for the TranspoNet PTS

An advanced option for Swisslog’s TranspoNet Pneumatic Tube System, the TranspoNet PowerLine Technology optimizes the flow of transported goods through complex hospital systems with numerous transfer lines and crossings. PowerLine enables simultaneous multicarrier transport of up to five carriers over long distances, multiple floors, between buildings or underground.

Depending on the system configuration and local conditions, PowerLine can efficiently bridge distances of more than 1,000 meters. A second, parallel line ensures simultaneous carrier transport back to stations where they are needed. In addition, radio-frequency identification (RFID) tracks and traces transported carriers.

TranspoNet Integration Unit

The Integration Unit seamlessly connects the TranspoNet pneumatic tube system with the PillPick Automated Packaging and Dispensing System. With the IntegrationUnit, hospitals can achieve the highest level of safety for patients. Management of drugs and their transport are fully automated. Patient-specific unit-dose PickRings are loaded automatically into carriers for transport to the wards via the pneumatic tube system.

The Integration Unit can load and send up to 180 carriers per hour. It manages both routine medication delivery and on-demand requests, with a maximum delivery time of 15 minutes from order entry to delivery to the relevant wards.

TranspoNet Tube Unloader

For hospitals with a TranspoNet Pneumatic Tube System (PTS) for the spontaneous transport of lab, blood, and tissue samples, the TranspoNet Tube Unloader is a solution that automates the receipt, unloading and return of TranspoNet Carriers. The Tube Unloader enables the fast and efficient processing of blood samples, ensuring process optimization in hospital and clinical environments. As it is fully integrated and automated, the Tube Unloader contributes to the reduction of workload, freeing staff to focus on patient care.

The Tube Unloader prioritizes PTS carriers for automatic, urgent, and manual unloading. Automatically unloaded carriers are opened, emptied, closed and returned to their station of origin or wherever they are needed. Blood tubes are collected safely in a special bin. For carriers marked as urgent or requiring manual handling, the Tube Unloader transports the carriers to urgent or hand-unload areas for faster processing.

The Tube Unloader can safely handle and transport up to 300 incoming and 300 outgoing carriers per hour. By automating blood and other sample handling, the Tube Unloader increases staff productivity and delivery efficiency, especially during peak hours.

  • Reduction up to 2,5 FTE at peak times for a single system
  • Tubes are up to two times faster in analysis machine
  • 100% tracking and tracing of the tubes
  • Validated sample transport performance
  • 24/7 availability
